The West Midlands Interchange is being constructed on land west of junction 12 of the M6 near to Cannock and over the next 15 years will be providing direct employment and training opportunities to people living in South Staffordshire, the Black Country, West Midlands and surrounding areas.
Winvic Construction is the lead contractor for Phase 1 of the development.
With 8,500 jobs and multiple training opportunities to provide long term skills, education and experience, there has never been a better time to join such a fast-growing industry.
The West Midlands Interchange, with its own freight terminal will enable some of the largest freight forwarding companies to move their goods via rail. Staffordshire County Council, South Staffordshire District Council and Wolverhampton City Council are working in partnership to support the project. In conjunction with other key partners, supporting with the recruitment of the newly created jobs for the site.
Staffordshire Jobs and careers brokerage is a fully funded Staffordshire County Council service to support residents and businesses with employability and recruitment support. The team has 2 dedicated Employment Brokers who will engage with WMI contractors and support with skills gaps and training needs that are required on site during the development.
