What are BTEC's?

BTECs are work-based qualifications that focus on practical, work-related skills and knowledge. There are other similar courses.

You can start at a lower level with just two or three GCSEs in many cases. Many of the trades, like motor vehicle, carpentry, hospitality, hairdressing, childcare or brickwork studies can start at Level 1.

Level 2 is a year of really living and breathing a work sector to see if you want to go to Level 3. Level 2 is normally equivalent to 5 GCSEs (grades 9 to 4).

Level 2 might include work experience. Level 3 can often be completed with further study and work experience.

Don’t wait until September to search for a BTEC - they are very popular!
