Careers Hubs bring together schools, colleges, employers, and apprenticeship providers in local areas across England. The goal is to make it easier for schools and colleges to improve how they prepare young people for their next steps.

Careers Hubs drive progress against the Gatsby Benchmarks by enabling schools and colleges and their Careers Leaders to access training and support, and to collaborate in a focussed way, bringing together best practice and local labour market insight.

Hubs offer schools and colleges dedicated support from the local hub team and facilitate partnerships with key employers committed to improving careers across an area.

Join your Careers Hub

Careers Hubs are organised as partnerships between The Careers & Enterprise Company and institutions with a stake in local economic growth (Local Enterprise Partnerships, Local and Combined Authorities). Careers Hub teams are located within these partner organisations.

In addition to mainstream schools and colleges, SEND and Alternative Provision schools, apprenticeship and in-work training providers and businesses of every size and sector can join a hub.

The Careers Hub Network

Each localised Careers hub network also facilitates a network of business representatives who have volunteered to work alongside schools and colleges in a supportive capacity to achieve meaningful careers provision and activities. If your school or college hasn’t signed up to become part of the Network, you can apply here: Join the Network | The Careers and Enterprise Company

Once your school has joined the Network, you will be supported by your Local Enterprise Coordinator who can help with:

  • Provide day-to-day support tailored to your education institution's needs
  • Give advice on the careers programme providers, activities and resources that have been proven to work
  • Share up-to-date information on the skills local and national employers need
  • Liaise with local employers to coordinate work encounters for your students

You are then allocated an Enterprise Adviser who is usually a senior or experienced member of the local business community and will work with you to help you develop a careers and enterprise plan and to connect you into the changing landscape of the world of work. Engaging with the Careers Hub Enterprise Adviser Network you can work on developing your employer engagement plan which will support with achieving  Benchmarks 5 – Encounters with Employers and Employees and Benchmark 6 – Experiences of the Workplace.
